BBC Trashing 13 UK Medium Wave Transmitters

So the BBC has decided to turn off 13 of its Medium Wave radio transmitters. The BBC is meant to be a public service, so in principle, saving money is good, but not if listeners are deprived from services. However, as MW use in Britain is probably pretty low now, the BBC will likely get away with it this time. London’s Capital Radio Road Show 1974

Below are a few photographs of Capital Radio’s Road Show when I visited the Biggin Hill Air Fair on 19th May 1974. According to Wikipedia, Biggin Hill Air Fair was, at the time, one of the world’s largest civilian airshows and the largest privately organised air show in Europe, so presumably a good publicity opportunity for Capital, which had started broadcasting only seven months earlier, in October 1973.
